My Next Challenge: 4x4x48

4x4x48 Challenge in aid of St. Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh.

On Friday, March 4th, at 8 pm, I am starting the 4x4x48 Challenge to help raise money in aid of St Brigid’s Hospice. Having seen first hand and Having spoken to families who have experienced the care and services that St Brigid's Hospice they all have talked so highly of the team. The extra touches that the staff and facilitates provide to families really supports these families during these difficult times. Families have spoken about the kindness of the staff, the beautiful garden that the patients have access to and the flexibility of the staff to allow family pets to make their final visits also.

The Challenge is to run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours (12 runs in total). I’ve already roped a few in to join me on some of the runs. Thank you for that! (For some peculiar reason, there’s no one around for 4 am runs, yet 😜😂.) With the first run starting on Friday, March 4th at 8 pm, I will be starting my runs every 4 hours from there until Sunday, March 6th at 4 pm.

With my birthday the following Thursday, I was originally going to call it the 4x4x48 for my 34th challenge. But after realising it’s way too many numbers (and the real reason being that when I started to call it this, with all the 4’s, ABC Gym Clane members thought it was for my 40th! - can’t be having people think that!). Maybe I have lost it, but I think it’s a great way to spend a birthday weekend.

I’ll be providing updates on my progress all weekend on my Instagram page as well as posting on it during Challenge week, (and updating this blog site when I can), on my reasons for running it, getting into running, more in-depth on how I am preparing myself for the challenge and more.

I’ll be doing the runs at 4-hour intervals from 8 pm Friday near the farm where I live (Kill - where there might be a bit more light in the area at night!), Clane, Maynooth and back in Wicklow over the two days. So, if you are around the weekend and are up for 4 miles, let us know and we can meet up to run a few miles together. I’ll have more specific details on the runs and route layouts closer to the time on my Instagram page as they may change.

More importantly, link below to support the cause!
