Kilcock 5k - The search for a sub 20 continues

There were too many good post-run blogs that one of these was bound to come - even though I never thought I would be disappointed with a PB.

I hadn’t got it in the lungs; the lack of hard interval training over the last month made the difference… and felt a little heavier, too 🍻🍻🥃

I took off too fast, and even though I had 20 seconds in my pocket after the first 2k, with my breathing, I knew I was in trouble. By the third km, I was pretty much gassed and had nothing in the tank to finish—one of those “looking for the nearest bush” moments.

Tried to get a sprint going near the end of the 5k but had nothing left to give.

Kilcock is a great flat course and one I would definitely recommend if you are in search of a 5k PB! A lot of high level athletes there so competition is high and there is great buzz to the town

All smiles though because we have a month of training to go before the Summer Night Park West 5k where we go for the sub 20 again!

… after the small matter of a 175k cycle in Kerry next weekend 👀
