That first session back feeling

Hands up if your legs are going to be sore tomorrow 🖐

I know after finishing my session with a prowler workout that mine will be.

For a lot of us, today was the first session back of the new year. And sure, some of us had to scratch and claw just to get to the equipment we wanted on a Monday evening. But it’s done now. We’re back into the swing of things.

Two things to take from today, the first day back: Take the positives. We may not feel we are as fit as we were a few weeks back. You may not have been able to do as many reps or lift as much weight. That’s ok. It’ll come back. Just don’t force the reps, that’s when injuries happen. In a week or two, you’ll be back to your old self again.

Two: That first session back may bring that first session stiffness too! Your legs make ache. Walking is going to be fun. Going downstairs is worse than up and god help you when nature calls for a number 2. But the worst thing you can do is absolutely nothing. Keep moving. Get a light session in tomorrow. A good warm-up and you will feel much better after 5-10 minutes loosening out. Yes, that includes doing squats. The very same thing that caused this pain.

Keep moving, build on the momentum of the first session.
