Why We Run

“The reason we race isn't so much to beat each other, but to be with each other.” - Christopher McDougall

Running can be a lonely sport at times. Especially as the colder, wetter weather starts to creep in.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve tried to make that less lonely with our online running group and Strava club.

Even knowing that others are running can help inspire you on days that you don’t want to run.

We’re often asked about transitioning from team sports when we were younger to an individual sport like running or triathlons.

Yes, you physically do the races and runs yourself… but it’s still a team, just like EVERYTHING else.

There is that group there to motivate you during the race day. Motivate you on training days whether they’re physically running beside you or not. Those that you talk about, whether be coaches or friends, about your training plans, workouts and running strategies. Those that help you out when you are on your run from looking after the kids at home to not killing you when you’re up first thing in the morning to get out there and waking them up in the process.

Running. It’s an individual sport but a team effort!

Who’s helped keep you on track for your running/training this year? Not a bad thing to reflect on and give gratitude to during your next "easy" miles run.
